IELTS Writing Task 1 table essay 按课堂讲解整理的复习版,不是逐字稿中完整逐字定稿
The table compares large-scale commercial fishing vessels and small-scale fishing boats in terms of four indicators, including employment, annual catch, labour costs and fuel consumption.
Overall, large-scale commercial vessels tend to be more profitable than small-scale boats, although some of their individual costs, such as wages and fuel consumption, are higher.
In terms of income-related indicators, large-scale commercial vessels appear to generate higher revenue. This can be seen from their larger annual catch for human consumption, at 29 million tons, compared to 24 million tons for small-scale vessels. More importantly, only large-scale commercial vessels provide annual catch for industrial processing, at 22 million tons, while small-scale vessels have no figure in this category.
Turning to costs, the expenses of the fishing industry mainly consist of labour and fuel. Despite the higher annual cost per capita on large-scale commercial ships, at at least 25,000 pounds compared with at most 3,000 pounds on small-scale boats, large-scale vessels employ much fewer crew. The gap in employee numbers is very large, with small-scale boats employing about 80 times as many workers. Despite higher oil consumption of large-scale vessels, the difference in fuel use is only about ten times, much less than the discrepancy in labour costs. Thus, large-scale fishing is still more cost-efficient overall.
