IELTS Writing Task 2 benefits and drawbacks essay 按课堂讲解整理的课后复习改进版,非逐字稿中完整最终定稿
Introduction
Some people believe that young adults should be encouraged to do unpaid work for the community for a certain period of time. In my view, this practice can bring more benefits than drawbacks, as long as participation remains voluntary rather than compulsory.
Body Paragraph 1 - Benefits
This practice can generate a range of benefits for different beneficiaries. Considering people who are in need, voluntary community work can help them address practical problems, such as a lack of food, financial pressure, or difficulty paying rent. When these problems are handled in time, the whole community may also become more harmonious and stable. For young adults themselves, helping others can allow them to derive a sense of achievement and develop transferable skills, including communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills. These skills are practical because they can be used in many future professions.
Body Paragraph 2 - Drawbacks and Solutions
Admittedly, unpaid community work may have some drawbacks. Since students receive no direct payment, they may find it difficult to remain motivated for a long time. Also, if the service only lasts for a short period, people who receive help may experience a sense of loss when the volunteers leave. However, these problems can be reduced. Schools can offer credits or social recognition so that young volunteers receive a meaningful return, even if they are not paid in money. In addition, community programmes can arrange volunteers in a continuous schedule, so that one group can take over when another group leaves.
Conclusion
Overall, unpaid community work can be highly beneficial when it is based on willingness rather than pressure. Although there are possible drawbacks, they can be managed through proper incentives and better organisation. Therefore, its benefits are likely to outweigh its drawbacks.
