IELTS Writing Task 2 advantages/disadvantages essay 按课堂已讲方向整理的课后复习改进版
Introduction
Some people believe that young adults should be encouraged to do unpaid work for the community and people for a period of time. In my view, this practice can bring more benefits than drawbacks, as long as it is based on willingness rather than pressure.
Body Paragraph 1 - Benefits
The benefits can be seen from several beneficiaries. Considering people who are in need, community service can help them solve urgent problems, such as difficulties with food, rent, or daily support. For the wider community, when more residents receive timely help, the community can become more harmonious and stable. For young adults themselves, helping others can also give them a sense of achievement and fulfillment. In this process, they may develop practical and transferable skills, such as communication skills, interpersonal skills, people skills, and problem-solving skills.
Body Paragraph 2 - Drawbacks and Solutions
Admittedly, unpaid work may also create problems. If young adults receive no return at all, they may find it difficult to continue for a long time. Also, if the help only lasts for a short period of time, some people in the community may feel disappointed when the support suddenly stops. However, these drawbacks can be reduced. Schools can offer credits or social recognition, so that students receive a meaningful return even though they are not paid in money. In addition, community service can be arranged as a continuous programme: when one volunteer leaves, another volunteer can take over. In this way, the support will not be interrupted.
Conclusion
Overall, encouraging young adults to do unpaid community work is more beneficial than harmful if it remains voluntary and is organised properly. It can help people in need, improve community harmony and stability, and allow young adults to gain fulfillment and transferable skills.
