Describe a second-hand app or website that helped you.

The most helpful second-hand app I have used is Xianyu. It is probably the most popular second-hand goods website in China, and it is part of Taobao. I have used it to buy all kinds of things, but the last item I bought there was a second-hand digital camera. I wanted a CCD camera because this type of old digital camera has become trendy again. It uses an old technology, and many people like the special atmosphere in the photos. The pictures are not too sharp or too perfect, so they look a bit old-fashioned and natural. The model I wanted was no longer produced, so I could not buy it in a normal shop. I searched for it on Xianyu and found a seller in my area. The camera looked good, so I contacted him and bargained with him a little bit. In the end, I saved one hundred yuan. When I got the camera, it was in great condition, so I think I made a good deal. I was really happy with this purchase because I got something I wanted at a better price.

Why do people buy second-hand things?

I think people buy second-hand things because sometimes brand-new items are not necessary. If people only need something temporarily, or they only use it once or twice, it is better to find a good deal on second-hand websites. Also, some old technologies and old items are trending again, like CDs, vinyl records, cassette tapes and old digital cameras. Since many of them are no longer made, people have to buy them second-hand.

Is buying second-hand goods good for the environment?

Yes, I think it is good for the environment. One person's trash can be another person's treasure. Many products are very durable, so even if one person stops using them, it does not mean they are useless. If people buy second-hand goods, we do not have to make as many new purchases, and this can reduce waste and consumption. This is especially important for electronic devices, because if people throw them away, they may end up in landfills.

What risks may people face when they use second-hand app?

People may face several risks. First, they can be scammed by the seller. Second, second-hand things may have some problems, and it is not always easy to tell before buying them. Also, it can be hard to know if the item is legit or not. For example, some people may end up buying something that was stolen, such as a stolen bike, and then they may get into trouble when the original owner finds it.

Describe a new law you think should be introduced in your country.

I would like to see a new animal protection law or regulation in my country. Nowadays, more and more people are interested in keeping pets, especially cats and dogs. However, keeping a pet is a great responsibility, because an animal may live for ten or fifteen years. Some young people get excited in a pet shop and just buy a cat or a dog. Later, when they cannot take care of the pet anymore, they may abandon it. This is one reason why we see many stray cats and stray dogs on the street. I think this is unfair to animals because they are living creatures and they have the right to live. Some stray animals may also be caught and even end up in restaurants, which is horrible. It is not good for the animals, and it is not good for people either, because these animals are not properly taken care of. So I think we need stricter laws. Maybe people should have to apply before they can own a dog or a cat, because a pet is a life, not something people can just buy and throw away. People who abuse animals should also be punished severely.

Why should we protect animals?

We should protect animals because they are living creatures and they have their own right to live. Another reason is that protecting animals is also protecting ourselves. If a society hurts animals and has no respect for animal life, it may also lose respect for human life. So animal protection is not only about animals; it is also about what kind of society we want to live in.

Why are laws important?

Laws are important because they regulate people's behavior and keep society safe and orderly. Humans can be selfish, and if everyone only does things in their own interest, there will be no order. When there is no order or safety, everybody suffers. So laws help people control their behavior and protect people from serious consequences.

Is it hard to introduce a new law?

Yes, I think it is hard to introduce a new law because many legal issues are complicated. For example, self-defense sounds simple, but some people may use it as a loophole. If the law is too loose, people may hurt others and then say they were just protecting themselves. But if the law is too strict, innocent people may not be protected enough. So lawmakers have to think about order, fairness and possible loopholes at the same time.

Should schools or parents control the use of phones?

Yes, I think schools and parents should control children's use of phones and electronic devices, but they should not be too strict. The first reason is that there is a lot of harmful content online, such as violent content, adult content, fake information and scams. Even adults sometimes have trouble telling what is real, so children need guidance. Also, there is a time and place for everything. When students go to school, ideally they are there to study, so it makes sense for schools to limit phone use. However, children can still use their phones in some situations, for example after class or after finishing homework, with some supervision. The goal is not to ban phones completely, but to help children control themselves.
