Do you usually solve problems by yourself?
Yes, I often solve problems by myself. I think solving problems by myself can help me improve my ability to solve problems and become more independent.
What kind of problems do students often have?
Students often have problems related to their homework or exams. For example, they may not understand a difficult math question or they may not know how to prepare for a test.
Do you ask your friends for help or do you go to your teacher for help?
I usually ask my friends for help first. If they cannot solve the problem, then I will ask my teacher for help.
Do you prefer solving problems quickly or taking a long time to think about it?
It really depends on the kind of problem. If it is a difficult question that I am interested in, I will spend a lot of time thinking about it.
What kind of problem would you solve very quickly?
I would solve small and unimportant problems very quickly. For example, I would not spend too much time deciding what to have for lunch or which socks to wear.
Are there any apps or websites you use very often?
Yes. There is a website called Frank CIE. It is a website where I can find test papers, answers and solutions, so it is useful for my study.

Describe a time when you gave advice to others.
One time I gave advice to my teacher was about two months ago. In the morning, after my teacher erased the blackboard, I noticed that a lot of chalk dust was floating in the air. Many students sitting in the front could not stop coughing.
So I suggested that my teacher use a wet sheet of tissue and wrap it around the blackboard eraser. Because the tissue was wet, the chalk dust did not fly everywhere when the teacher cleaned the blackboard. After that, the air in the classroom was still clean, and no one coughed again.
However, after about an hour, the tissue became dry and lost its ability to hold the dust. Then I suggested a new idea. I thought the blackboard eraser could contain a small bottle of water and a spray. Before cleaning the blackboard, the teacher could spray some water first and then erase the board.
In this way, the water could help absorb the chalk dust and reduce the dust floating in the air. I think this was a useful and creative idea because I did not just complain about the problem. I tried to use a simple tool to solve it.
Why do some people think it is better to ask for advice from friends than from parents?
Some people think it is better because friends are of the same age. We belong to the same group, so we have more in common and we can talk to each other more freely. Also, friends may face the same kinds of problems at school, so they may have more suitable solutions. When children talk to their parents or teachers, they may feel pressured, but talking to friends can feel more relaxed.
Should children do everything their parents ask them to do?
No, I do not think children should always do everything their parents ask them to do. Sometimes what parents ask children to do might not be the best thing for the child. It could be what the parents want, but not what the child wants. Children should become more independent and think about what they really want to do.
What kind of encouragement should parents give children?
Parents can give children two kinds of encouragement. The first kind is to buy them small gifts, such as toys. The second kind is to praise them and tell them that they are doing a good job. I think praise and compliments are very important because they are more personal. A gift can be bought from a store, but parents' words can make children more confident.
How can employers encourage their staff?
Employers can encourage their staff in several ways. For example, they can give workers a cash bonus or a raise, so the workers will be more motivated and can buy the things they want. Employers can also give them a promotion, more responsibilities, or more training. These things can help workers feel that they are improving and that their work is important.
Describe a time when you encouraged someone to do something that he or she didn't want to do.
One time I encouraged someone to do something they did not want to do was during my last winter vacation. My two friends, Eric and Jason, and I went to Huangshan. On the second day, I really wanted to climb the mountain, but they did not want to go because they had several worries.
Their first worry was that climbing the mountain would be too tiring. I told them that we could take a rest whenever we got tired, and if we were really tired, we could take the cable car. Their second worry was that the trip would be expensive, so I told them that we could bring our own food and water. They were also worried that they would not be able to wake up early in the morning, so I told them that I would wake them up.
The next morning, I got up first and called a taxi. Then we got to the mountain and started climbing. During our climb, when we got tired, we stopped to rest for a while, ate some snacks and drank some water. It took us about three hours to get to the peak of the mountain. The view was beautiful, and we took many beautiful pictures.
When we came down, we took the cable car, so it was not tiring at all. At the end of the day, we were all very happy. We did not spend too much money, and we were not as tired as they had imagined. I was really glad that I persuaded them to go.
